Visiting an open-air museum

Meeting Irene, a 91 year-old survivor of the Lithuanian displacement to Siberia during WWII, who Ruth Septeys used as reference in Shades of Gray, a Young Adult novel, was a moving moment.

The boxcar and house -shared With 40 others- are replicas of her living conditions.

Meeting Irene brought the book to life, and I admired her fortitude.
